Stagecoach North Scotland has been spreading festive cheer across the region this Christmas through a programme of community events, charity fundraising and festive travel support for families and schools.

A highlight of the festive programme was the popular Santa’s Grotto Bus, which proved a great success at the Inverurie Light Switch-On, where Santa and his elves met children and families and handed out gifts to more than 150 youngsters.

The Grotto Bus also visited the Ellon Light Switch-On, Ross County Christmas Fair and the Peterhead Christmas Light Switch-On, where Stagecoach colleagues engaged with local communities and collected donations in support of Mission Christmas.

In Buchan, colleagues came together to raise £500 for Anna Ritchie School in Peterhead through a special Christmas raffle. The school provides specialist education for children and young people with additional support needs from across the local area.

Stagecoach also supported young people to enjoy festive culture by providing free transport for pupils from Holm Primary School to attend a performance of Snow White at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, helping ensure the experience was accessible to all.

As the festive period approaches, customers are reminded that amended timetables will be in operation from 24 December to 3 January.

Passengers are encouraged to use the Stagecoach Bus App to plan their journeys, check live bus times and buy tickets quickly and easily over the Christmas and New Year period.

David Beaton, Managing Director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said: “Christmas is a time for community, and I’m incredibly proud of the way our teams across North Scotland have supported local events, charities and families this festive season.

“From the joy brought by our Santa’s Grotto Bus to fundraising for Anna Ritchie School and helping pupils attend the pantomime in Inverness, these initiatives show the positive role Stagecoach plays in the communities we serve.

“We’d also encourage customers to plan ahead, check festive timetables and use the Stagecoach app to make travelling over the holiday period as easy and stress-free as possible.”

Stagecoach North Scotland would like to wish all customers and communities across the region a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
