Please find below a comment from Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce in relation to the release of the National Transport Strategy (NTS2):
Shane Taylor, research and policy manager, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce said: “The release of the National Transport Strategy today sets the groundwork for future national transport decisions, as well as supporting the framework for the forthcoming regional transport strategy for the North-east. The Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity outlined that a delivery plan will follow the strategy, outlining how the strategy will be progressed in practice.
“The Chamber awaits the delivery plan for NTS2 with interest. The region has a range of transport priorities, but as a core component of the drive to decarbonise the transport system, we would urge the Cabinet Secretary to ensure that the delivery plan has a strong focus on delivering improved rail connectivity between Aberdeen and the central belt. Alongside a commitment to improve digital connectivity on key transport corridors, the business community in the North-east is seeking a credible plan to reach a ‘mile a minute’ minimum standard between Aberdeen and the central belt cities.”
