The life of Aberdeen businessman David Wright is to be celebrated thanks to a special fundraising event in aid of cancer charity, Maggie’s.
David Wright, who was managing director of Bucksburn-based self-storage and container hire company Securastore, sadly passed away in November 2025 following a battle with cancer. He was 55.
Now, Stellar Blue Accounting Services has spearheaded plans to host a ball to celebrate David’s life, bringing together some 240 guests to raise money for Maggie’s. In an apt tribute to avid Aberdeen FC fan David, the May 29th, 2027 event will be held in the Richard Donald Stand at Pittodrie Stadium. It will thank Maggie’s for the invaluable support they provided to him and his wife throughout his illness.
The event is being supported by headline sponsor Camm-Pro along with fellow sponsors MDL, Reynolds Cocktails, Prospect 13 and Marvelle Events, with the evening also set to feature the cast of Still Game. The Scottish comedy favourites will host the night and join guests at their tables as part of the sponsorship packages.
The night will include a two-course dinner, live music from the Ruby Show Band, a raffle and auction, as well as a VIP drinks reception in the Dons’ dressing room and a pitch-side photo opportunity.
Founder of Stellar Blue Accounting Services and Maggie’s board member Sara Smith said: “Deciding to host an evening in David’s memory was a gut feeling for me. Seeing how close David was to his family including Tanya, who is a close friend of mine, gave me the drive to make this event a celebration to remember.”

David’s wife Rachael, who now runs Securastore alongside her sister-in-law, Tanya added: “We all miss David dearly. He was a devoted family man, a much-loved father and grandfather, and someone who cared deeply about the people around him. He was taken from us far too soon.
“It means a lot to our family that such a special event is being held in David’s memory. He loved the Dons and West Ham so holding the evening at Pittodrie will make it an even more memorable occasion.
“Hopefully we can raise vital funds for Maggie’s on the night, a charity that gave David and me so much support.”
Camm-Pro Managing Director Simon McBain added: “We are delighted to be supporting this event as headline sponsor, particularly because it has personal significance for me and my wider family. I was incredibly fortunate to call David a friend, and this is one of those occasions where we can blur the lines between business and personal in a positive and meaningful way to support this fundraising effort in his memory.
“As a business we feel it’s important to give back and it is especially poignant to be doing this in celebration of the life of someone who meant so much.”
The evening will proudly support Maggie’s in Aberdeen, a welcoming space where people with cancer and their families can receive free practical, emotional and social support.
