On Saturday 7th June at 11am, supporters of local charity Music 4 U will gather at Aberdeen Beach for a special event, a symbolic 500-step walk led by Corey, one of the charity’s most inspiring young participants.
The walk is a powerful milestone in Music 4 U’s ongoing 500 4 500 campaign, which invites businesses, individuals and organisations across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to raise or donate £500 in support of young musicians from all backgrounds and abilities.
Local schools, community supporters and a number of generous businesses have already joined the campaign, including RBC Brewin Dolphin, Keenan Recycling, Aberdeen Trinity Centre, PCL Live, Corry & Christie Optometrists, Studio 10, Divine Beauty, On Purpose, CNOOC, HS Hygiene Services and Events In Partnership.
At the heart of this campaign lies Corey’s story. His family was once told he would never walk, talk, or connect with the world around him. Today, he is walking, singing, dancing - and now leading this walk - all thanks to the unwavering support of his family and the transformative impact of Music 4 U.
“This is why we do what we do. This is why your support matters.”
– Debra Baxter, Founder & Creative Director, Music 4 U
This event is about more than fundraising. For many of the charity’s young participants, this walk will be their first opportunity to engage with the campaign in a personal, visible way. It’s a moment to celebrate their progress, their confidence and their place in the Music 4 U community.
In keeping with the wider campaign goals, walkers are encouraged to contribute in any way they can. The hope is to have over £500 in the collection buckets by the end of the day and every penny raised will go toward helping Music 4 U provide life-changing opportunities through music.
The walk sets out from The Highlander Café Bus at Aberdeen Beach at 11:00 AM. There is no set fundraising minimum for participants, but those wishing to collect donations in advance can download sponsorship forms or donate online at www.m4u.org.uk/beachwalk
