Step Change in Safety has unveiled its new two-day Safety Leadership Development Programme, created in collaboration with member organisations Karrdale, Salos Sunesis, Equilibria, and Why Human Factors.
The programme - designed for Site Managers and Supervisors working in high-hazard environments - helps participants develop non-technical leadership skills and deepen their understanding of human performance so they can build proactive, high-impact safety cultures. Delegates strengthen their leadership approach, enhance their coaching skills, and learn to communicate with clarity and purpose.
The first course, held in early September, received very positive feedback from participants: “The structure and flow of the sessions were exceptionally well thought out – each part seamlessly built upon the last, offering us a comprehensive understanding of how we behave as leaders and, more importantly, how we can positively influence and manage those behaviours.”
Craig Wiggins, CEO of Step Change in Safety, says: “Strong safety leadership is about more than systems and processes - it’s about how people think, interact and make decisions. This new course equips supervisors and managers with the awareness and skills they need to shape positive safety cultures. We’re grateful to Karrdale, Salos Sunesis, Equilibria and Why Human Factors for collaborating with us to bring it to life.”

Among the course’s interactive sessions is a segment focusing on personality diversity and behavioural awareness, helping delegates understand their own tendencies and those of others. Delivered using Equilibria’s E-Colours and Personality Diversity Indicator (PDI) tools, this element supports improved communication, stronger teamwork, and safer decision-making.
“The E-Colours segment was particularly impactful. It provided a powerful lens for self-awareness and team dynamics, and I’m genuinely excited to bring that insight back into my organisation.” ~ Course Delegate
As an extension of the partnership, Step Change in Safety members are offered a 10% discount on Equilibria’s Premium PDI Report - a personalised assessment priced at $49.99 – via https://www.equilibria.com/pdi-home using the code SCIS10%.
Lewis Senior, CEO & Co-Founder of Equilibria, adds, “Through our partnership with Step Change in Safety, Equilibria are proud to bring E-Colours and associated tools to the energy industry - empowering leaders and teams to enhance self-awareness, strengthen communication, and build safer, more efficient workplaces, both onshore and offshore.”
This collaboration is part of Step Change in Safety’s wider strategy to work closely with members and partners, providing access to high-quality tools, resources, and training that help drive continuous safety improvements across the offshore and onshore energy sectors.
