With a background in creative and technical environments, Sarah Thomas Storyteller (STS) has joined the AGCC on a quest to help businesses in the North-east craft their narratives, appeal to their audience and drive their brand engagement.

As excitement about the energy transition grows and a new period of change emerges, she looks forward to meeting and working closely with regional companies to help them excavate their stories.

Digital platforms have never been so bountiful or accessible. For example, worldwide, there are

  • 1.93 billion websites
  • 2.1 billion YouTube users monthly
  • 2.9 billion Facebook users

As with fictional stories, the platforms and options are limitless, but there is always a perfect version of the narrative for businesses which is where an enthusiastic storyteller can help.

With its community, history, exquisite natural resources and Bon Accord mentality, Aberdeen is already home to rich storytelling ingredients – STS is excited about joining the chamber to help businesses drive their brand storytelling further.

STS has been a produced playwright and award-winning screenwriter in her creative writing past. Following an inspirational class at NESCOL in the winter, she is now working on a collection of short stories to self-publish later this year.

She spent many years working in technical environments such as subsea engineering and construction and is equally comfortable with creative clients as with technical ones. All industries share the same challenges; how do we find our audience and communicate our message effectively in a changing marketplace?

The answer to that question is through human-centred business storytelling.

Aberdeen has recently become her home and she is keen to work with businesses of any size based here in the shire. Her portfolio includes websites, explainers and fictional scripts, interviews, press releases, articles, and e-learning materials. Each project starts with an exploration of purpose and audience.

She'll soon release a set of packages expressly for the AGCC members and will announce these before the Ultimate Business Show, where she's looking forward to meeting fellow chamber business owners.
