A recent visit on board the DSV Seven Atlantic has highlighted the growing partnership between Subsea7 and local charity Archway, with support already making a meaningful difference to children and adults with learning disabilities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Throughout 2026, Subsea7 has supported Archway through fundraising activities, volunteering and practical projects, helping improve facilities and create new opportunities for the almost 200 people the charity supports.

As part of the partnership, six members of the Archway team were recently invited aboard the DSV Seven Atlantic, where they were given a behind-the-scenes insight into the highly specialised work carried out by the vessel and its crew.

The visit showcased the complexity, precision and professionalism involved in offshore subsea operations. Highlights included the opportunity to see the vessel's diving bell and decompression chambers and to learn more about the rigorous safety procedures that protect divers working in some of the world's most challenging environments.

Although Archway and Subsea7 operate in very different sectors, the visit revealed striking similarities in the values that underpin both organisations.

"One of the things that stood out most during our visit was the shared commitment to caring for people," said Janine Davies, Fundraising Manager at Archway.

"At Subsea7, the welfare, safety and wellbeing of the divers and crew are at the heart of everything they do. At Archway, our focus is on supporting almost 200 children and adults with learning disabilities and their families to live full, active and rewarding lives. While our work is very different, our values are remarkably similar."

The partnership extends well beyond fundraising. Subsea7 colleagues have already volunteered their time to help improve Archway's services and continue to support the charity through a range of fundraising initiatives.

Archway hopes the relationship will continue to grow, with opportunities for knowledge sharing, staff engagement and visits between the two organisations.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support Subsea7 has given us this year," added Janine. "Their enthusiasm, generosity and willingness to get involved are already making a real difference. We look forward to building on this partnership and continuing to learn from one another."

For almost 40 years, Archway has supported children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, complex health needs and associated physical and sensory disabilities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Through respite care, supported living, residential care and community-based opportunities, the charity helps people live fulfilling lives while providing vital support to their families and carers.
