A suspicious vehicle sparked a major security alert during Donald Trump's visit to his Aberdeenshire golf course yesterday.
Police Scotland erected a corden around the entrance to the Menie Estate in Balmedie while the vehicle was inspected by a bomb squad.
The incident caused chaos as dozens of media and staff were left stranded at the entrance to Trump International Golf Links.
Around 40 officers were seen at the cordon while nearby residents were evacuated from their homes.
Police Scotland initially reported that no criminality was found and removed the cordon but later reinstated it after military explosive officers were asked to investigate further.
In an update, Police Scotland said: “As the cordon was being removed, military colleagues from EOD requested to carry out further checks on the vehicle."
A short time later, EOD officers completed their searches of the vehicle.
Police said in a further statement: “There is no risk and cordons are in the process of being lifted.
“It was a false alarm with good intent.”
