A sustainable flower festival is coming to St Machar's Cathedral 9-11 June, celebrating Scottish-grown flowers.

Locally grown flowers will adorn the historic cathedral for two days Tuesday 10-Wednesday 11 June.

There is free entry to the festival on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 June during Cathedral opening hours of 9.30am to 4.30pm.

On 9th June at 5.30pm the cathedral has a special sneak preview event.

In her demonstration ‘Flowers for the Future,’ Beth Bruce-Gardner from Honeymoon Fern will show budding florists how to arrange local flowers and foliage without using plastic-based materials.

She is an enthusiastic ambassador for @sustainablechurchflowers whose aim is to raise awareness of the environmental cost of using imported blooms when arranging church flowers. Swapping to homegrown cuts the carbon footprint of flowers drastically and using natural materials to arrange them is further ensuing their sustainability. Enjoy the demonstration with a drink and the chance to view the festival. Tickets are on Eventbrite priced £12. Proceeds will go towards future sustainable projects at the Cathedral including the Biodiversity Project in the Kirkyard.
