The development of a Place Strategy is one of Aberdeenshire Council’s Strategic Priorities agreed as part of the Council Plan 2022-27. The Place Strategy will explain how Aberdeenshire Council and their partners will achieve the vision and objectives for Aberdeenshire. At the heart of the Place Strategy will be the current and future needs of local communities.

The Place Strategy will have an impact on the way services are delivered. This will be supported by a framework of Place Plans and they need your help to develop and inform the Strategy, helping to achieve the vision and ambition for Aberdeenshire.

Why is place important?

Where we spend our time has an important effect on our lives and our wellbeing. Improving the quality of places and the opportunities we have access to, can help to tackle inequalities.

The Place Principle

The Place Principle is where people, location and resources combine to create a sense of identity and purpose. It plays a crucial role in addressing the needs and realising the full potential of communities. It asks that all those responsible for providing services and looking after assets in a place work and plan together, with local communities, to improve the lives of people, support inclusive and sustainable economic growth and create more successful places.
