TCD Architects gains new RIAS certification

Aberdeen-based TCD Architects has strengthened its service offering as a member of its team has completed a national energy design certification programme.

TCD’s James Slater, chartered architectural technologist, has become registered as a RIAS (Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland) Energy Design Certifier following an intensive training programme.

As a result of being awarded this registration, the practice can assist building owners and developers, who are working with new build projects, extensions or refurbishments, to calculate energy use and ensure projects meet energy requirements set out in Scottish Building Standards.

More than that, TCD can also issue Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) on new domestic dwellings which provide assurance of compliance with the energy regulations set by The Scottish Government.

Steve Lawrence, director at TCD Architects, said: “We’re delighted James has been given this certification by RIAS which, alongside our track record of delivering high quality projects, enhances the service we offer to clients.

“TCD is committed to continuous professional development (CPD) among our staff to ensure that we remain up-to-date with the latest developments in the construction and design industry.

“In the coming weeks and months we will look to encourage more of our team to undertake CPD programmes to further their learning and abilities as architects, leading to more innovative design solutions as a result.”

Founded in 1963, TCD Architects offers full architectural services, space planning, project management and master planning. The practice has a proven track record of delivering unique projects to clients across a variety of sectors.
