The team behind Amuse, one of the city's most celebrated restaurants, is opening a brand-new sister venue in the centre of Aberdeen.
Mezzo will open at 155 Union Street, within Trinity Aberdeen, formerly home to Chopstix and Pizza Hut, this October.
It's a relaxed, all-day spot spread across two floors and built around four simple things: good food, good drinks and good
music and a great view.
On the ground floor, Mezzo will be a fresh pasta bar and deli: hand-made pasta, focaccia subs and easy, everyday plates served alongside a carefully chosen list of nice wines.
It's designed to be somewhere you can drop in for lunch, grab something to take away, or settle in with a glass of wine and watch the city go by.
Upstairs, the focus shifts to small sharing plates and showcase dishes, paired with a vinyl-led soundtrack and one of the best views in the city. Part restaurant, part bar, it's the room the team are calling “the restaurant bar above Aberdeen”: good food, good drinks, good music and a great view, all in one place.
The venue marks a new chapter for the team, whose flagship restaurant Amuse has earned a place in the Michelin Guide, two AA Rosettes and a Best Newcomer win at the Scran Awards since opening in 2022.
“We've been looking for ages for the right spot in town, and this just feels right,” said the team behind Amuse.
“Mezzo is our chance to bring something super cool, great value and fun to the centre of Aberdeen: brilliant pasta, proper wine, great music and a room with a view. And with The 155 Club, we wanted to give local businesses a home in the city centre too. We can't wait to open the doors.”
Kenny Bruce, Centre Manager at Trinity Aberdeen, said: “Securing an operator of this calibre for Trinity Aberdeen is exactly the direction we want to be moving in. Bringing the team behind Amuse into the heart of the city shows what is possible when good operators back Aberdeen, and Mezzo brings something genuinely new to Union Street.
"It fits everything we are working towards here: stronger brands, a better offer for our customers and a city centre worth investing in. We’re delighted to welcome Mezzo and their team, and there is more to come from Trinity Aberdeen."
Richard Tinto of Tinto Architecture added: “As a proper foodie, this is a dream project to collaborate on. Kevin’s creativity in the kitchen transfers into his design ideas, and he’s a joy to work with. The continued redevelopment of the city centre is happening, real people are investing and taking the initiative in driving it forward."
Alongside the restaurant, Mezzo will launch The 155 Club, a corporate and individual membership offering built for Aberdeen's business community. Taking its name from the Union Street address, the club gives member companies priority booking, dedicated private-hire access to the upstairs room and terrace for corporate events and functions, and a set of member perks designed to make Mezzo the go-to spot for client lunches, team celebrations and after-work drinks.
Crucially, it's built to be great value: membership designed to pay for itself.
Ahead of opening, a limited number of Founding Membership places will be released to local businesses, offering early sign-ups preferential rates and first access to private-hire dates for the festive season and beyond. Full membership details will be announced alongside the launch of the website holding page next week.
Mezzo is expected to open at 155 Union Street, Aberdeen (Trinity Aberdeen) in October 2026.
A website holding page goes live next week, with booking, menu and 155 Club membership details to follow.
