TechFest, the North-east’s leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) charity, is thrilled to announce the return of its much-loved 24 Days of STEM - Advent Calendar online initiative - an engaging countdown to Christmas designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in young minds.
Running from 1–24 December 2025, the digitally available initiative encourages everyone across Scotland and beyond to take part in daily STEM challenges, learn facts, and do some hands-on experiments that bring science and engineering to life.
Each day reveals a new, festive-themed STEM activity that can be enjoyed in the classroom or at home, using simple materials and a big dose of imagination. From making frozen bubbles to exploring the festive traditions from different countries across the world, the 24 Days of STEM – Advent Calendar aims to make science engaging, inclusive, and full of festive fun.
Dr Yashka Smith, Deputy Manager Director at TechFest said: “The 24 Days of STEM - Advent Calendar is one of our favourite projects of the year. It gives young people a chance to explore how STEM connects to everyday life and to experience the joy of discovery during the festive season. We’d love to see as many schools and families as possible join in this year!”
Participation is free, and anyone can sign up via the TechFest website to receive access to all 24 activities. Everyone that register will also receive additional resources ahead of 1st December to help you prepare. Last day to sing up: 11th December, 2025.
