Morgan joins the solutions development team, working alongside Dax Group's engineers on live client projects spanning AI, software development and digital transformation.
The placement reflects the firm's commitment to building capability in the north-east of Scotland and to giving students genuine, hands-on experience of delivering enterprise software.
Securing a placement has become markedly harder for students. Fewer employers now run structured placement schemes than a decade ago. For students in the north-east, that pressure is compounded by a limited pool of local technology employers offering structured, technical placements, with more opportunities surfacing in the Central Belt or further afield.
Morgan is studying Computer Science at Robert Gordon University and joins Dax Group for a year-long placement.
On joining Dax Group, Morgan said: "Finding a placement is tough, and finding one where you get to work on building solutions to solve real-world problems is tougher still. What appealed to me about Dax Group was the chance to build solutions that will make a difference.”
"I'm very grateful to be working for Dax Group where I can meaningfully contribute my academic knowledge towards real-world projects. I'm excited to work alongside an experienced team and learn from their experiences."
Colin Dawson, Managing Director of Dax Group, adds: "I chose RGU in 2007 precisely because it offered a placement year, and that year shaped my career. Back then the energy sector was booming, there was a placement for every student who wanted one, and it was simply what you did. Today students compete for a fraction of those opportunities at exactly the moment demand for digital solutions and AI has never been higher.”
"Having been a placement student myself, being able to offer that same start to someone else is one of the most rewarding things about running a business. I am proud of the business we are building in the north-east, and prouder still that it is now strong enough to open the door for the next generation of engineers. Morgan has the curiosity and the appetite to make the most of it, and we are delighted to welcome him to Dax Group."
Dax Group is a technology company based in Aberdeen, specialising in AI, software development and digital transformation.
