Glencraft are delighted to have created and supplied 950 bespoke mattresses for the new Caledonian Sleeper, providing the ultimate sleep experience. The new sleeper train now operates between five different locations Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fort William and Inverness.
A unique feature of these new trains are the 41 luxury double beds, the first of its kind in Europe. As an aside, the luxury mattresses that are found in the Balmoral Hotel Edinburgh and are to the same luxury, quality and craftsmanship standard as the ones found on the Caledonian Sleeper.
Graham McWilliam, managing directorof Glencraft, attended the launch event held on, April 10, 2019 at the Balmoral Hotel and was one of the first to travel on the new trains across the Forth Road Bridge to Glasgow.
The managing director at Serco Caledonian Sleeper had to say about Glencraft:
“We are putting on the new mattresses produced by Glencraft which are really comfortable, they are proper pocket sprung mattresses that are going on there and similarly the bedding will be refreshed so it’s really good quality bed linen. So I hope people will come off saying they have had a night’s sleep as good as you get in a hotel or even your bed at home.
They’ve been doing it for years and producing mattresses to the very highest quality and the fact it’s really interesting because obviously they are a social enterprise, many of the people that work there have learning difficulties or disadvantages in some way. But that’s not what Glencraft lead on, Glencraft lead on the quality of the product and actually when you discover the people that are making it and the challenges those guys have overcome, it’s really inspirational”
