A full week of flavour, community and celebration kicks off in Inverurie as the town becomes the heart of the North-east’s food and drink scene.
Anchored by the returning Taste of Garioch Food Festival, which takes over Inverurie Town Centre on Sunday 31st August (12–5.30pm), the town is alive this week with a menu of activity—from Inverurie Restaurant Week to the Inverurie Food & Drink Awards 2025.
Organised by Inverurie Events and We Are Inverurie BID, this week of festivities has brought excitement to the town and surrounding areas. Derek Ritchie, We Are Inverurie BID Manager, said:
“This week, Inverurie becomes a true hub for local food, community and celebration. From our award-winning producers to our high street restaurants, Taste of Garioch and Restaurant Week shine a light on everything that makes the North East food scene so special. We invite everyone to come take part, support local, and share a bite with us.”
Here's what you can expect:
Taste of Garioch: A Festival of Local Flavour in partnership with HCS Aberdeen.
This Sunday’s event promises to be a show-stopping celebration of the region’s rich food and drink culture. Visitors can expect a vibrant street food festival with dozens of top-tier producers, vendors, food vans, and artisan makers; a bustling event village filled with local favourites and hidden gems and family-friendly attractions and entertainment running all afternoon—completely free to attend.
Taste of Garioch is proud to announce that The Doric Kitchen will be joining for a special feature: the filming of an episode of their forthcoming cookery series, set to stream globally on Amazon Prime in 2025. This is more than a demo—it’s an immersive behind-the-scenes experience inside a working production. From expert cooking tips and local ingredient showcases to tasting sessions and guest appearances by regional producers, The Doric Kitchen marquee will be the beating heart of the festival.
Think you’re the fastest eater in the North East? Take on the Festival’s Buttery Challenge — a 60-second eating contest with a huge cash prize up for grabs! Brought to you by Food Village Sponsor Market Ethically, in support of Garioch Community Kitchen, and with butteries generously supplied by J.G. Ross (Bakers) Ltd, this fun competition raises vital funds for a fantastic local cause.
