Homes and businesses have less than four weeks left to apply for government-funded broadband installation through the R100 (Reaching 100%) voucher scheme.

More than 2,000 postcodes across Aberdeenshire, representing thousands of homes and businesses, are understood to remain eligible for the Scottish Government's R100 Broadband Voucher Scheme, which closes to new applications on 20 November 2026.

Introduced to help rural homes and businesses with limited connectivity options, the scheme provides funding of up to £5,000 towards faster broadband, covering direct installation costs through a registered supplier.

Since R100 was launched, broadband options across rural Scotland have improved considerably. The expansion of fibre networks, alongside advances in fixed wireless and satellite technology, means good-quality, affordable connectivity is now available to many properties that previously had limited options.

However, some rural homes and businesses still face significant connectivity challenges, and Aberdeen-based Scot-Tel-Gould is encouraging those who remain eligible to take advantage of the funding before it closes.

The company has already connected around 700 properties through R100, delivering ultrafast broadband through its fixed wireless network.

Georgi Hristov, Technical Director of Scot-Tel-Gould, said: "We've helped hundreds of rural households and businesses get connected through R100, and it would be a real shame for others to miss out simply because they weren't aware of the funding or thought better broadband wasn't an option for them.

"Fixed wireless technology has advanced enormously in recent years. We can now deliver speeds of up to 900 Mbps, with performance comparable to fibre, without the cost and disruption of laying cables over long distances. Wireless isn't a second-best option or a temporary solution.

"We have extensive experience of the application process, can take care of the administration and, in many cases, confirm whether a property can be connected without needing a survey. There's still time to apply, and we'd encourage anyone who thinks they might qualify to get in touch."

Importantly, 20 November is the application deadline, not the installation deadline. Applications received before the closing date can still be processed, with approved connections installed afterwards. This provides flexibility for households and businesses currently under contract with another broadband provider.

Scot-Tel-Gould's service is backed by five-star customer reviews, with customers particularly valuing its local support.

One rural customer, Willie Moir, said: "From the very first contact to installation, the service has been exceptional. I would highly recommend anyone struggling to get broadband in a rural location to get in touch with them. 10/10!"
