For the past three years, Iska Birnie Photography has worked with Northwood North-East, building a library of photographs that continues to grow and evolve alongside the business.
As a business that is highly active in its marketing, Northwood has a constant need for fresh imagery. Photography is used across its social media, as well as extensively in printed brochures, banners and other marketing materials.
Rather than trying to anticipate everything the business might need from one large photo session, regular sessions allow the image library to develop over time. Each shoot can focus on what is needed at the time, from updating team photographs to creating images for campaigns, different locations and adding more variety.
Most recently, Iska met Northwood team members Laura, Matt and Juliet in Inverurie for a walk around the town, creating a collection of relaxed images that connects the team with one of the communities in which they work.
The three-year relationship also means Iska has developed a strong understanding of the Northwood team, the business and how the photographs are being used. Instead of starting from scratch each time, planning begins with what is already available, what may needs updating and where there are gaps in the existing library.
That familiarity carries through to the shoots themselves. Team members know what to expect and are increasingly comfortable in front of the camera, helping to create more relaxed and natural photographs.
The partnership demonstrates how a longer-term approach to business photography should move beyond individual photo sessions. Each session builds on the last, creating a visual library that keeps up to date with the people, personality and changing needs of the business.
