Tilray Brands has moved to acquire BrewDog’s Australian operations for an undisclosed sum.

The US-headquartered cannabis and beverage group has taken ownership of BrewDog Brewing Australia, including a brewing and production facility in Brisbane, Queensland.

The deal also includes two BrewDog bars in Brisbane and three franchised venues in Pentridge, Victoria; South Eveleigh, New South Wales; and Perth, Western Australia.

Tilray CEO Irwin Simon said: “The acquisition of BrewDog’s profitable Australian brewery operations and flagship bars represents another important milestone in advancing Tilray’s global beverage and consumer products strategy.

"Australia is a highly attractive craft beer market with a strong beer culture and serves as a strategic gateway to the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region.”

The announcement follows Tilray’s £33million acquisition of several BrewDog UK assets last week, including the brand’s worldwide intellectual property, its UK brewing operations and 11 bars across London, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin, as well as a venue in Ellon.

Tilray said the acquisition will not impact jobs at BrewDog’s Australian business.
