Here are the stories making the business headlines across Scotland and the UK this morning.

Warning signs added to make Aberdeen bus gates ‘clearer for drivers’

Additional signs and road markings are being installed across Aberdeen to make new bus gates clearer to drivers.

Aberdeen City Council introduced its bus priority route in August with the hope it would reduce traffic and travel times across the city.

However, the new bus gates, including those on Market Street, Guild Street and Bridge Street, have been met with anger from residents.

Now, the council has decided to install new warning measures to make the bus gates “even clearer” after monitoring the situation for the first couple of months.

Apple sales dip again despite iPhone boost

Apple sales have continued to fall, despite strong demand for its iPhones and services like streaming platform Apple TV+.

The tech giant says revenues dipped 1% to $89.5billion (£73.3b) in the three months to September 30 when compared with the same period last year.

Sales of its Mac computers and iPads struggled after a post-lockdown surge in interest.

It marks the fourth quarter in a row where sales have fallen year on year.

Hybrid Ferraris outsell petrol versions for first time in net zero shift

Hybrid Ferraris have outsold purely petrol-powered models for the first time in a boost for the Italian marque as it prepares to launch its first electric vehicle.

51% of Ferraris sold between July and September were fitted with battery packs, the company said, in a milestone moment for the industry.

Ferrari is thought to be the first for a major sports car maker to cross the threshold, with rivals like Maserati and Aston Martin instead focusing on the shift to pure electric.

Hybrid cars describe any vehicle that has more than one power source but for most vehicles it is typically a petrol engine aided by a battery, which gathers power from a dynamo-type device when a car brakes. Ferrari has long used hybrid technology in Formula One.

George Street slots arcade approved despite doubts over claim it ‘won’t encourage gambling’

A new slots arcade will open on Aberdeen’s George Street – despite fears it could encourage gambling and antisocial behaviour.

Merkur Slots has been given permission to bring its “low-stake machines” into the former Ladbrokes betting shop next to Greggs.

The unit has been vacant since 2019, and the new “adult gaming centre” has been hailed as a “long-term enhancement” to boost the corner of the city.

Company bosses also claim this would bring more investment into “one of Aberdeen’s poorest areas”, creating new jobs and increasing footfall.

It was approved at a heated council meeting on Thursday.
