Former Conservative minister Nadine Dorries has delivered a damning indictment on the future of the party as she becomes the latest to join Reform UK.

Dorries, who was a health minister and culture secretary in Boris Johnson’s government, pulled no punches as she signed up for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, and urged other Conservatives to follow suit.

She told the Daily Mail: "The Tory Party is dead. Its members now need to think the unthinkable and look to the future."

Reform leader Farage commented: "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Nadine Dorries to Reform UK. She is a hugely successful politician, author and columnist and will be a great boost to our campaign to win the next General Election."

After stepping down as an MP in 2023, Dorries has been a vocal critic of current Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.

Citing concerns about a rise in crimes such as shoplifting and hotels being used to house migrants, she said: "The time for action is now and I believe that the only politician who has the answers, the knowledge and the will to deliver is Nigel Farage."
