Touch of Love Outreach (TOL), a grassroot charity based in Aberdeen, has been shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award at the Scottish Charity Awards 2024, recognising its grassroots journey from a single act of kindness to a city-wide movement of compassion and support.
What began with a simple request for a can of milk and a loaf of bread has grown into a lifeline for thousands across the city.
Touch of Love now provides:
- Food support for over 10,000 people annually, including those with no access to public funds
- Free mum and baby sessions for isolated New Scots
- Youth empowerment for more than 450 minority ethnic young people through cultural confidence-building, creative expression and leadership activities
- Holistic support for over 350 ethnic minority women and families, helping them integrate, connect and thrive
Founder Jane Akadiri reflects: “That small moment of compassion sparked something much bigger - a vision of dignity, belonging and love.”
The public is now invited to vote for Touch of Love in the People’s Choice category. Voting is open until 20 May 2025, and takes just seconds using your email.
