A north-east business is celebrating after shining at Scottish tourism awards.
No.10 Bar & Restaurant (No.10) , situated on Queens Terrace in the heart of Aberdeen’s West End, received the Best Informal Eating Experience award at the 2016/2017 Scottish Thistle Awards held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
The glittering awards ceremony, held during Scottish Tourism Week, were hosted by TV presenter and Deacon Blue drummer, Dougie Vipond, and presenter and former Miss Scotland, Jennifer Reoch and aimed to recognise innovation, excellence and success in the hospitality and tourism industry – rewarding hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, visitor attractions, events and individuals who go that extra mile to provide customers with exceptional service.
No.10, which re-launched 18 months ago following a transformational refurbishment, represented the North-east following their win at the Aberdeen regional final and faced competition from businesses across Scotland. The bar & restaurant, which expanded into its neighbouring building to create a new stylish bar & 90-seater restaurant, focuses on providing the North-east with contemporary and relaxed dining with a seasonal menu using quality, fresh and local produce.
The business has continued to go from strength to strength receiving both local and national awards including, ’New Business of the Year’ award at the 21st Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN) awards in November last year.
Rebecca Brooks, Chair of the Scottish Thistle Awards Industry Panel and VisitScotland Board member, said: “Congratulations to all of the winners at the 2016/17 Scottish Thistle Awards National Final. They represent the best of the best in Scotland and epitomise the strength and depth of the tourism and hospitality experience across the country.
“The Scottish tourism industry and hospitality sector prides itself on delivering a rewarding experience for visitors and all of our finalists should be proud of their achievements in reaching the final – which, in itself, is both a recognition of excellence and innovation, and a sign of quality."
Director of No.10 Bar & Restaurant, Allan Henderson, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive this industry accolade. To be recognised by the Scottish tourism sector is a huge achievement for the whole team and a real honour for the business.
"Our team has worked incredibly hard over the last 18 months to provide the North-east with the best customer service and quality produce so they can enjoy eating local and they have truly made the business the success it is today. We are very proud to fly the flag for the North-east in the tourism sector, whilst also helping to revitalise an Aberdeen institution and create something exciting for the city.”
