Aberdeen International Airport is celebrating the success of its two-year charity partnership with AberNecessities, which has raised an incredible £96,000 directly for the children’s charity.

The charity has hailed the partnership with the largest transport hub in the North East and the “incredible generosity” of staff and passengers.

This funding has helped provide thousands of essential items to disadvantaged families across the North-East of Scotland, ensuring no child goes without the basics they deserve.

The partnership, which began in January 2024, has not only raised vital funds but also increased awareness of the challenges faced by local families. Through flagship events such as Jet Set Spin and the Aberdeen Runway Run, combined with generous passenger donations and staff-led initiatives, the airport has contributed to a remarkable £265,000 raised for charities since 2022.

Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities, said: "Our partnership with Aberdeen International Airport has been truly transformative. Over the past two years, the incredible generosity of passengers and staff has allowed us to provide thousands of essential items to families who need them most. This collaboration has not only raised vital funds but also helped shine a light on the challenges faced by children in our community. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support and commitment shown by everyone at the airport."

Mark Beveridge, Managing Director at Aberdeen International Airport, added: "We are immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together with AberNecessities over the past two years.

“Their dedication to supporting local families has been inspiring, and it’s been a privilege to help amplify their work. We thank everyone, our staff, passengers, and partners, who contributed to this success."

Aberdeen International Airport is currently searching for its next charity partner which is decided via an internal staff vote. The new charity partner will be appointed in January.
