Tributes have been paid to Ron Finnie, the co-founder of Aberdeen institution Finnies the Jeweller, who has died aged 90.
Trained as a watchmaker at Gray’s School of Art, Mr Finnie used £150 from his father to set up a small repair business before opening Finnies on George Street.
From those modest beginnings, the business grew into one of Aberdeen’s best-known retailers, now employing around 50 people.
In a statement, the company said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved co-founder, Ron Finnie.
“His unwavering dedication, passion and kindness shaped Finnies into what it is today.
“He passed peacefully surrounded by family and will be deeply missed by all.”
