Scott Jamieson received a congratulatory video call from US President Donald Trump after ending a 14-year wait for a DP World Tour title with victory at the Nexo Championship in Aberdeenshire.
The 42-year-old Scot spoke to the president moments after sealing a two-shot victory at Trump International Golf Links, where the tournament brought some of the world’s leading golfers to the north-east.
"He was very complimentary and it sounds like he was actually watching it," Jamieson told BBC Sport Scotland. "He said he was following along, so it was really cool... I mean he is the President of the United States."
Jamieson carded a final-round 67 to finish 11 under par, two shots clear of England’s Matthew Jordan, securing only his second DP World Tour title and his first since the Nelson Mandela Championship in 2012.
Fellow Scots Euan Walker and Connor Syme also enjoyed strong weeks in Aberdeenshire, finishing tied for 10th on four under par.
