Donald Trump has said there is a "good chance" he could meet the Russian and Ukrainian leaders for in-person talks about ending the war in Ukraine.

Speaking at the White House yesterday, the US president said the talks in Moscow between his envoy and Vladimir Putin were "highly productive" and a meeting between the three leaders could happen "very soon."

Mr Trump said there was a "very good prospect" that the summit will take place but did couldn't confirm if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin had agreed to meet.

The Kremlin earlier issued a vague statement about the talks between Putin and Steve Witkoff, but a foreign policy aide said the pair had "constructive" talks.

The meeting came just days before Trump's deadline on Friday for Russia to agree to a ceasefire.

Speaking in his Oval Office, he said: "Everyone agrees this War must come to a close, and we will work towards that in the days and weeks to come."
