Threat to oil tankers in Middle East worst since start of Iran war, analysts say
The threat to ships carrying oil in the Middle East is at its worst since the Iran war started, experts have said, after a spate of attacks on another key route in the region.
The warning comes after a number of attacks on vessels in the Red Sea, an alternative waterway that some tankers had been using since Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has denied Donald Trump's claim that it was in talks with the US over reopening the strait, but said it was speaking to Oman about securing the shipping lane.

Firefighting continues at site of Cairngorms wildfire
Six fire appliances and about 30 firefighters are continuing to tackle hotspots and "deep-seated" fires at the scene of a wildfire that has been burning for almost three weeks.
The incident in the Cairngorms National Park near Aviemore broke out on 15 July and has burned thousands of acres of moor and woodland.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said its crews were being supported by volunteers and helicopters.

Nigel Farage’s plan for navy to return small boat migrants ‘illegal’, says France
France has warned Reform UK’s plan for the Royal Navy to turn back small boats would be illegal after Nigel Farage unveiled proposals for the “largest military operation in the English Channel since World War Two”.
Farage used a press conference on Monday to pledge to send the navy into the Channel to intercept all migrant boats should the party win power at the next election.
Under so-called Operation Fortress, migrants would be detained, given food and water before being returned “under escort” on naval vessels to France or Belgium.
