Beauty giant Avon is set to open its first UK stores in its 137-year history.
The company, known for having millions of reps selling door-to-door, says it needs to rethink how it sells to customers.
Angela Cretu, chief executive of Avon, said: “Women stayed at home in the past, but now they are going out to work and we have to follow them wherever they spend their time and make the service as convenient as possible.
“Women like to touch and experience the product and have that joy of seeing all the colours available.”
Formed in 1886, the company was originally seen as a way for women, often mothers, who weren't working to earn money independently.
The pandemic has changed the way people shop, however, with 30% of Avon's sales coming online, an increase from 10% pre-CV19.
There's half the number of stay-at-home parents since 1993 too, making door-to-door sales more difficult.
The company has not disclosed where its franchises will be opening.
FTSE 100
The UK's flagship share index, the FTSE100, was down seven-points at 7,418 shortly after opening this morning.
Meanwhile, Brent crude futures were up 0.22% at $82.70 a barrel this morning.
