Delve into Aberdeen's past, discover unexpected stories and delight in artistic treasures this summer at Aberdeen Treasure Hub.

For the first time, the Treasure Hub will open its doors into the evening and invite the public to experience the city’s history through their new Twilight Treasure Tours. Each themed event includes a short introductory talk by a curator and a guided tour behind-the-scenes of the Treasure Hub’s storerooms.

Aberdeen Treasure Hub opened in Northfield in 2016 and houses Aberdeen’s museums and galleries collection. While many highlights from the city’s collection of art and social history can be found at the Art Gallery, Maritime Museum and Provost Skene’s House, most items are stored at the Treasure Hub when not on display. The city’s vast collection includes over 100,000 items – far too many to display at one time.

The city’s collection is recognised as being of National Significance by Museums Galleries Scotland and spans a wide range of interests from fine art to ship building - there's even football memorabilia for anyone needing a world cup fix.

Shona Elliot, Lead Curator for Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums said “We are thrilled to be offering our new Twilight Treasure Tours. Aberdeen Treasure Hub stores thousands of items, far more than visitors to our city centre venues will ever see!”

The first tour takes place on Wednesday 24 June at 6pm with future dates planned for Wednesday 29 July and Wednesday 26 August. Booking is essential. Tickets cost £10 per person and can be booked at www.aagm.co.uk.
