University of Aberdeen seeks SMEs to support project

The University of Aberdeen offers a third-year module, Working Together: Employability for Arts & Social Sciences, which combines employability workshops with a work-based project hosted by-a local start-up business, SME or third sector charity.

The combination of on-campus workshops, with project-based learning, offers undergraduates an opportunity to engage with authentic, collaborative and interdisciplinary learning: all crucial for success in the modern workplace.

Dr Joy Perkins said “Implementing work-based projects within the curriculum offers many benefits to both SMEs and students. These benefits include developing students’ transferable skills and building their self-confidence, and providing SMEs with an additional resource to tackle a bespoke piece of work.”

Projects run for 10 weeks between January and March and are carried out by a small group, normally three or four undergraduates.
