The University of Aberdeen is seeking a new Senior Governor to lead its governing body, Court.
The role is central to ensuring that Court operates with clarity of purpose, strong governance discipline, and appropriate engagement with the university community, supporting the institution’s long‑term sustainability, academic mission, and public accountability with a strong sense of place and connection to the university’s role in the North-east of Scotland.
The Senior Governor is responsible for ensuring that the governing body conducts its business effectively, efficiently and in accordance with its statutory, legal and governance responsibilities.
Acting as a charity trustee, the Senior Governor must ensure that Court operates in the best interests of the University and upholds high standards of governance, integrity and public accountability.
The appointment of the Senior Governor is subject to election under Scottish legislation and will involve an initial selection stage followed by a formal election by staff and students of the university conducted in line with statutory requirements.
