Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in retaliation for fresh American strikes on military targets across the country.
The latest escalation follows US action ordered by President Donald Trump after Iran targeted three tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US Central Command said its forces struck around 90 military targets, while Iranian state media reported attacks on a railway bridge, a military base near Bushehr and other locations across the country.
“This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombing of ships by Iran,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“If it happens again, it will get much worse!” Speaking aboard Air Force One, he also said Iranian officials had “called a little while ago,” adding they wanted “to make a deal so badly”, without providing further details.
Brent, the global crude benchmark. jumped by nearly 6% on Wednesday to more than $80 a barrel, the highest price since the US and Iran agreed the ceasefire while negotiating an end to the war last month.
