VisitAberdeenshire will be hosting a Recognition Event for the Welcome to Aberdeenshire volunteers on October 8 2026.
This will celebrate the contribution of the 42 volunteers who have welcomed thousands of arriving cruise visitors throughout the season and will have contributed more than 1,500 volunteering hours by the time of the last cruise call on September 25.
The scheme - operated by VisitAberdeenshire and supported by Peterson Energy Logistics and Port of Aberdeen - places local people at the heart of the destination experience.
The team of trained volunteers provides visitors with a warm and knowledgeable welcome, encouraging exploration of the city, and beyond to support local businesses and attractions.
At the same time, it creates meaningful opportunities for residents to contribute to tourism, building a strong sense of community ownership.
