Revamp of Aberdeen’s derelict Budz Bar building approved 

Long-awaited renovation work to transform Aberdeen’s former Budz Bar building into a multi-storey entertainment destination has finally been given the green light.

The new venue, called Glitch, would include mini golf across several floors in a building stretching from Union Street to Justice Mill Lane, along with cocktail bars and a pizzeria.

Previous blueprints for the overhaul, including a corten steel cover for the exterior, fell foul of historians.

Zelensky calls for Trump and Starmer to meet and find common ground

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Donald Trump and Sir Keir Starmer to meet and find common ground, after the US president's repeated criticism of the UK prime minister.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC after talks with Sir Keir, the Ukrainian president said that while he would not tell Trump what to do, the pair should meet to "re-load the relationship".

Typical new mortgage costs soar £788 a year in two weeks

A typical mortgage taken out now is £788 a year more expensive than before the Iran war began, new data has revealed.

The increase relates to homeowners and buyers with a 25-year mortgage of £250,000, and an average two-year fixed rate of 5.28%.

The figures, compiled by financial information service Moneyfacts, show how lenders have hiked rates and withdrawn deals since the US-Israel strikes on Iran began at the end of February.

Ad for AI editing app which said it could 'remove anything' banned

An advert for a video and image editing tool that implied viewers could digitally remove a woman's clothing has been banned by the UK advertising regulator.

The YouTube ad for PixVideo - AI Video Maker, seen in January, showed a "before" and "after" image of a young women, with red scribble overlaid on her midriff in the former, and parts of her bare skin exposed in the latter.

Text across the bottom of the picture stated: "Erase anything" followed by a heart-eyes emoji.
