Primark owner considers spin-off for clothing chain

Primark saw sales drop in the UK as people spent less at the budget retailer, its owner Associated British Foods (ABF) said.

In the year to September it saw a 3.1% fall in like-for-like sales compared with the year prior, which it said reflected weak consumer confidence. The company said it expected the "subdued" retail market to impact Primark sales into 2026.

ABF said that it was exploring splitting off the fast-fashion retailer from its food business, where it owns brands like Twinings, Ovaltine and Ryvita.

Nearly all drivers say headlights are too bright

Nearly all UK drivers said they thought headlights were too bright and that they have been dazzled by oncoming vehicles, according to a major study.

The government said last week that it will take a closer look at the design of cars and headlamps after concerns about lights dazzling drivers.

A study commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT) found 97% of people surveyed found they were regularly or sometimes distracted by oncoming vehicles and 96% thought most or some headlights were too bright.

LED mask ads banned over acne and rosacea claims

A number of adverts for LED face masks have been banned for making unauthorised claims they can improve acne and rosacea.

The popularity of at-home beauty devices has surged in recent years with social media feeds filled with influencers unboxing and reviewing the masks as the latest skincare trend.

However, dermatologists are divided over whether light-emitting diodes (LED) in at-home masks can deliver the results of medical-grade devices used in clinics.
