A young chef from Westhill is proving that the future of the food and drink industry is in safe hands.

Oliver Redgwell-Welch, an apprentice chef at Entier Ltd, has been named a finalist in the Craft Guild of Chefs’ prestigious Young National Chef of the Year Competition.

Oliver only joined Entier Ltd in September 2023 as part of the company’s award-winning Fresh Olive Apprenticeship programme, and he has already cooked up a series of major achievements.

Oliver recently won North-east of Scotland Young Chef of the Year 2024, North-east of Scotland Seafood Chef of the Year 2025, and was crowned Young Scottish Chef of the Year 2025, now he's one of the top young chefs in the UK, heading to London this October to compete in the national finals.

The Young National Chef of the Year finals will take place on the 7th of October 2025 at the University of London, with the winner announced later that evening at a VIP event at The Hippodrome Casino.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey,” said Oliver. “Not even two years ago I was starting my apprenticeship, and now I’m standing alongside some of the UK’s top young chefs. I’m so grateful to the team at Entier for their support and mentorship. I wouldn’t be here without them”

Peter Bruce, CEO of Entier said: “To be recognised at this level so early in his career speaks volumes about Oliver’s talent and commitment. We have always championed young talent at Entier and seeing him go from new apprentice to national finalist, along with everything he has achieved in his career in such a short a space of time, is truly inspiring.”

The Craft Guild of Chefs Young National Chef of the year is one of the UK’s most respected competitions for up-and-coming culinary professionals, helping to launch the careers of some of the industry’s leading names.

Entier Ltd, based in Westhill, is proud to champion local talent and continue investing in the next generation of chefs.
