Aberdeen’s whisky bars are set to shine this August as Whisky Week returns with an exciting line-up of more than 20 local venues, each paired with one or more iconic distilleries to create a unique city-wide whisky festival.

Running from 21st to 31st August, Whisky Week invites attendees to explore Aberdeen’s most-loved bars and take the opportunity to try both somewhere and something new.

Participating venues include The Grill, Fierce Bar, Monty’s, St Machar Bar, and The Ferryhill, each pouring exclusive drams from the likes of: The Glenlivet, Aberfeldy, Cutty Sark, and Chivas Regal.

The festival’s format is simple: attendees purchase a wristband online and pick it up from any of their collection points, which grants them access to special Whisky Week menus in the participating bars, exclusive events, and a printed guidebook to mark their discoveries. Wristbands are valid for the full ten days and can be used as many times as you like.

Whether you’re a seasoned whisky drinker or just keen to try something new, every bar will offer at least one dram for £5 or less - such as Royal Brackla 12, Port Askaig 8, or Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition - with rarer finds like Springbank 15, Balvenie French Oak 16, and Bunnahabhain 17 also on offer for those looking to explore the top shelf.

Whisky Week was created to give people a reason to venture out and see what’s new or changed in the city, while sampling exquisite drams on route. With no fees to take part, bars are supported with a festival marketing campaign, social content, and footfall over 10 days - all while showcasing their venue and team to new faces.

“The aim is simple,” says founder Charlie Bain. “We want to give people a great excuse to rediscover their local bars, support the high street, and get to know whisky in a relaxed, casual way.”

Wristbands are available now at whiskyweek.co.uk.
