After a landmark year in 2024 with eight impactful events, Women in Tech Aberdeen (WiT AB) has kicked off 2025 stronger than ever - continuing its mission to inspire, support, and connect women working across tech, digital, and adjacent industries in the North-east of Scotland.
The community continues to grow at an exciting pace with:
- Over 1,080 engaged followers on LinkedIn
- 250+ newsletter subscribers
- Consistent attendance of 30+ women at each event
Already in 2025 WiT AB has hosted four successful events, including a vision boarding online workshop, a unique AI performance event led by local artist and innovator Kate Steenhauer and a month-long campaign for International Womens’ Day, which culminated in an event to showcase there is “No Wrong Path to Tech”.
Most recent event focused on cyber security featured two influential women working in this sector: Timi Adegunwa and Gyanu Raut, who highlighted diversity needed in the cyber security and shared their career path, hints and tips and skills development resources with the community.
The group is led by Jen Hall from Integrity HSE, Jana Vidis from IFB, Caroline Laurenson from TLTech, Maria Bell, Mesomorphic & Silicon Croft and Kristy Moir from Leidos and the WiT AB committee is on track to deliver another impactful year of community-led events, delving into important topics such as careers, biotech, agritech, AI and entrepreneurship.
Jen Hall said: “What’s especially encouraging is the growing participation we’re seeing not only from women already working in tech, but also from the next generation of tech talent, with students from NESCol, Robert Gordon’s College, St Margaret’s School for Girls, and Dyce Academy joining recent events.”
Jana Vidis adds: “The significance of this community should not be underestimated. We are delighted to have the support of local sponsors like Harbour Energy, IFB, Integrity HSE, TL Tech who recognise the importance of a diverse tech sector.
"Opportunity North East has kindly provided the ONE Tech Hub as a home for our events, and sponsors like AccelerateHER, Barclays Eagle Labs, Empowering You, ScotlandIS, and Scotland Women in Technology have generously supported past events.
"They recognise the value of our initiative - growing the community through networking, knowledge sharing, and creating opportunities.
"We are keen to identify additional sponsors and partners who share our passion for diversity, talent development, and shaping an inclusive future in tech in the region.”
The WiT AB events are open to all; women and allies in tech are warmly welcomed. It’s a diverse community that includes programmers, engineers, scientists, and product managers, not only from Tech and IT, but from industries such as energy, life sciences, creative arts and hospitality.
