Women in Tech Aberdeen is proud to announce the launch of its 2026 initiative, “Grow with Women in Tech”, a community-driven programme designed to empower their members to support the next generation of women considering careers in technology and STEM.

“Grow with Women in Tech” focuses on connecting the community with meaningful STEM volunteering opportunities, enabling members to share their expertise while developing mentoring and presentation skills. Through collaboration with local STEM engagement and tech-for-good organisations, the initiative aims to amplify collective impact across the North East of Scotland.

The launch event on  24th of February at 6.00pm will bring together leading organisations, including TechFest, Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), Aberdeen Science Centre and the Scottish Tech Army, who will showcase their work and outline practical ways to get involved. Attendees will hear about volunteer opportunities aligned to a range of skills and experience levels, as well as the support available to help volunteers thrive.

Jamie Hutcheon, Director at Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East said: “There has never been a more important time to inspire young people to pursue careers in digital and tech. With around 10,000 new digital jobs expected in our region by 2035, it’s essential that the next generation is aware of these opportunities and supported to seize them. At Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East, we help today’s tech professionals connect with - and inspire - the digital workforce of tomorrow. We’re excited to share more about this when we join the Women in Tech Aberdeen Group on 24 February.”

The event will take place as a hybrid session at ONE Tech Hub and online, with presentations beginning at 6.15pm for virtual attendees. Alongside the speaker sessions, guests will have the opportunity to network over drinks and nibbles. Tickets for the launch event are £8 standard entry or free for online attendance. A limited number of complimentary student tickets are available by contacting the organisers directly.

Women in Tech Aberdeen would like to extend sincere thanks to ONE Tech Hub for hosting the event and for their continued support over the past two years. Their partnership has played a key role in enabling the growth of the community.

As Women in Tech Aberdeen expand their programme of events and outreach throughout the year, they are actively seeking sponsors who share its commitment to advancing diversity in technology and supporting women at every stage of their careers. Organisations interested in partnering with Women in Tech Aberdeen are encouraged to get in touch.

Caroline Laurenson, committee member commented: “Through our ‘Grow with WiT’ 2026 initiative and our programme of MeetUps throughout the year, we aim to strengthen connections across the community, inspire future talent, and create lasting, measurable impact across the North East’s technology ecosystem. By working together, we can ensure more women and girls see technology as a space where they belong and can thrive.”
