Wood RecyclAbility, a social enterprise dedicated to providing meaningful work experience for adults with additional support needs, is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join its board as volunteer directors.

The organisation, established in 1997, transforms waste wood into high-quality upcycled products such as bird boxes and picnic tables while also chipping wood for use in chipboard manufacturing. In addition, Wood RecyclAbility bales plastic waste for recycling and maintains an orchard of 2,000 apple trees, which will soon be harvested in partnership with Social Juice for apple juice and cider production.

The new volunteer directors will play a key role in ensuring the stability and sustainability of the organisation. While no specific skill set is required, expertise in areas such as health and safety, HR, IT, leadership, finance, risk management, business administration, or adult protection would be highly beneficial. The role involves attending a monthly virtual board meeting and contributing to decision-making.

Brian Reid, operations Mmanager at Wood RecyclAbility, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to make a real difference in their community while gaining valuable leadership experience. Our organisation thrives on collaboration and fresh ideas, and we welcome those who are eager to contribute.”
