Traffic disruption is expected on a busy main road north of Aberdeen as work begins today on improvements to the B999/Shielhill Road junction.
Aberdeen City Council has confirmed that contractor Hunter Construction will begin site preparation works on Thursday, October 15, as part of a project designed to improve road safety and visibility.
The scheme will involve realigning more than 300 metres of the B999 to remove a tight bend immediately north of the junction, alongside changes to the junction itself and widened roadside verges.

Further improvements will be made to Shielhill Road, including the removal of a dry stone wall, widening of verges and regrading of roadside slopes to improve visibility around a double bend.
The project will also involve extending a culvert at the Burn of Mundurno to accommodate the new road layout.
Council co-leader Ian Yuill said: “The Council is delighted to start works to improve the B999/Shielhill Road junction. The new layout will make a positive difference for drivers using the route and those living in the local area.”
Fellow co-leader Christian Allard added: “The design will provide substantial road safety benefits while also retaining junction capacity. We look forward to watching the works progress."
