Work underway on village’s first homes

Finishing touches are being made to the first homes at a new Aberdeenshire retirement village as the team prepares to welcome people into the show cottages for the first time.

The two cottages are the first ever homes to be completed by Brio Retirement Living, which selected the growing town of Chapelton just south of Aberdeen near Newtonhill as the first location for a series of new retirement villages across the UK.

The cottages, which will be available to view from May, are two of the 22 types of homes which are available to purchase now.

Named after famous Scottish clans, the beautiful one-bedroom Campbell cottage and the charming two-bedroom Fraser cottage come complete with their own garden plots and views over the beautifully maintained green. The homes will be within walking distance of Brio’s Community Hub, Slate & Grain Brasserie and the wider town of Chapelton.

Spaces for the exclusive show home preview events in May are expected to be in high demand and those interested in viewing the homes first are being encouraged to register interest for the first event on 10th May now by calling the sales team on 01224 946711.

Brio Retirement Living, is the new name for Liberty, which recently announced a change in its name to differentiate itself from another property company with a similar name. The company says its team, plans and ambition for Chapelton remain the same, with residents set to move in from early 2019.

Buildings can also be seen making progress across the rest of the Chapelton retirement site, with work now underway on 15 cottages and the hilltop apartment complex. Once completed, the village will consist of 94 new one and two-bedroom apartments and cottages.

Karl Hallows, director of development and sales at Brio Retirement Living, said: “As we’re approaching the completion of the show homes, we’re starting to see our vision for the finished properties come to life and how it will seamlessly integrate into the wider Chapelton community

“With views out over the village green, and fresh and modern interiors, the show home cottages don’t look like homes that most people would expect to see in a retirement village, but that’s exactly the point. They bring to life our ambitions for our new retirement village which is to offer people an enjoyable, modern retirement with fresh and comfortable surroundings. I’m confident our visitors will agree too.

“We’re looking forward to work starting on the community spaces such as the community hub, communal growing gardens and the lawn and meeting spaces like the Slate & Grain brasserie, as these will show how the village has been designed to support a community environment.”

The village will also feature a range of facilities including an outdoor space with fire pit den and exercise trail, a bespoke programme of activities including photography, tai chi, shopping trips and flexible technology, enabling residents to easily keep in touch with family and arrange care appointments as and when they need extra support.

The first phase of development is due for completion in early 2019.
