XL Group division secures commercial vehicle contract

Access XL, a division of XL Group, has pulled off a major coup in the commercial vehicle market by securing a six-figure contract with a multi-national industrial gas firm BOC.

The award marks the Scottish manufacturer’s largest contract win since re-entering the commercial vehicle tail lift market in 2018. Access XL will manufacture and deliver 33 vehicle tail lifts to BOC’s fleet of commercial vehicles.

This win comes on the back of similar contracts with a major distribution company and multinational dairy producer.

Specialists in the design and manufacture of hydraulic lifts and recognised market leaders in ambulance lifts, Access XL has designed, manufactured and delivered 180 patient lifts to London Ambulance Service over the last 18 months. Their lifts are used throughout the UK, Ireland, the Americas and the Middle East as well as by the British Armed Forces.

Working with parent company, XL Group, Access XL has adapted technologies primarily used for the process industry to create a state-of-the-art system. The new system provides auto-tilting, load monitoring, and smart lift operations which allows the lift functions to be modified without the need for control board re-engineering or rewiring.

Access XL general manager, Farid Arvani said: “Our in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities enable us to custom design and build bespoke mechanical, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems.

“Our new technology provides the most reliable operation, ease of maintenance and quick diagnostics. Having the ability to change the operational direction of the lift within seconds, will save our customers both time and money.

“The most recent commercial vehicle contract wins have been the result of collaborative engineering with our clients to deliver their exact requirements. By offering bespoke engineering, cutting edge technologies and up to date manufacturing techniques, we are cementing our position as a UK market leader in the vehicle lift market.”

Access XL, which has its manufacturing plant in Forfar where it employs 30 people, is an XL Group company.
