This Sunday saw some of the very best of Royal Deeside’s young talent on the stage of Deeside Activity Park at Ken Howie’s packed out Burns Lunch.
Ken Howie, farmer and owner of Deeside Activity Park with his trusted team welcomed over 125 people for a traditional Burns Lunch. Guests of all ages enjoyed the afternoon of great home cooked food, warm and friendly company, and lots of amazing local talent.
Lunch was started off with Ken’s usual warm welcome and a tale or twa fae Robbie Burns himsel. Ken's wife, Nicola Howie, said Grace and the delicious hot homemade soup was served.
Champion Piper Lee Taylor piped in the MacSween’s Haggis, which Ken addressed with full hearted, knife wielding arm throwing finesse. The lunch was finished off nicely with the head chef's homemade clootie dumpling.
The afternoon saw Heather Anderson and her band play some Burns tunes on the Fiddle that had the guests feet tapping, and hands clapping along with them. This year, after Ken had been a Scottish Verse Judge at Banchory Primary School, four youngsters took their turn on the stage. The youngest being only 6 years old Olivia Littlejohn, Natania Beverly 9 years old with ‘Jist Waatch It’, Harriet Brotchie 10 years old, then Georgie Steven aged 9 years old was piped in by Lee Taylor and another Haggis to give us her rendition of ‘Address to a Haggis’. It was quite something to see all the young local talent from Royal Deeside.
