A social enterprise in Aberdeen and across the UK, which works towards moving from a reactive to a personal, proactive, partnership approach to employee care, is raising awareness of social enterprise and the difference it makes.

Social enterprises are businesses that work to achieve positive social or environmental impact. They are primarily motivated, designed and driven by a desire to make a positive difference in the world. Like all businesses social enterprises seek to deliver profit by trading in goods or services, but they reinvest or donate at least half of those profits to their social or environmental mission.

Social Enterprise Day took place on Thursday, November 16, 2023 and was a global event celebrating the incredible contribution that social enterprises make to communities and the environment across the world.

P3 Business Care CIC, which has been serving the corporate business community in Aberdeen since 2019, is a social enterprise which is helping identify issues that employees have whether work or life, before reaching that crisis point. It’s one of more than 100,000 social enterprises in the UK, contributing an estimated £60billion annually to the economy.

Commenting on what the day means to them, Jim Grimmer, Founder of P3 Business Care said: “Social enterprises across the UK are changing lives and communities which is why P3 is proud to celebrate and be part of Social Enterprise Day. To date, we are supporting companies across the UK and also delighted with a recent expansion into the offshore sector in West Africa for one client and another in the North Sea. Companies are slowly recognising that what they have in regard to employee care generally isn't working. It's traditionally been reactive and our P3 model of personal, proactive, partnership has seen us realise incredible benefits for employees, their immediate family members and our client businesses.

"I love the social enterprise model of business. We anticipate in 2024 we will triple our turnover and as a social enterprise, our profits are re-invested to allow us to extend our support and improve our services. It's also a benefit for our clients from a corporate social responsibility perspective. Supporting a social enterprise sends a great message to employees and customers."

P3 Business Care CIC is a member of Social Enterprise UK, the national membership body for social enterprises. CEO Peter Holbrook said: “Social Enterprise Day is a celebration of the great work social enterprises up and down the country are doing to protect our environment and support communities in need. Where we spend our money can make change happen, and with social enterprises, you can be sure that your purchase will make a real difference.”
