A charity set up by former Aberdeen F.C. and Scotland international footballer Russell Anderson to support children in socially deprived areas of Aberdeen is set to benefit from a new shirt sponsorship deal arranged by RAM Tubulars.
By donating their space on the back of the Aberdeen players’ home and away shirts to the Russell Anderson Foundation for the group stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League, RAM Tubulars are extending the reach of the foundation to a European audience.
The foundation was established by Russell Anderson in 2012, and has gone on to deliver school sports coaching sessions, food and community support that has included thousands of food items given to those in need, age-specific health and wellbeing workshops, a Young Leaders programme to boost self-esteem and confidence, holiday camps and festivals, and an NHS-backed initiative providing classroom-based presentations and practical lessons, such as basic first aid and dental hygiene.
RAM Tubulars has partnered with the foundation for over five years, contributing to a variety of initiatives during that time. Most recently they have supported the roll-out of after school clubs across Aberdeen, involving nine schools and 410 pupils – including Managing Director Jim Stewart’s former school, Woodside Primary.
Commenting on the ongoing partnership with the Russell Anderson Foundation, lifelong Aberdeen F.C. fan Jim Stewart said: “I’m delighted about this development that will see the great work of the charity receive more exposure through the UEFA Europa Conference League. I hope the additional awareness created will amplify the cause and lead more children to benefit from the excellent programmes that provide really useful life skills, while enhancing classroom learning through sport. Russell has created something really special here, and I’m proud to play our part in its continual growth.”
