Aberdeen City Council’s Ideas Hub has won an Award for Best Innovation at the quarterly Best Business Awards.
The Ideas Hub is a collaborative staff engagement tool which allows staff within the organisation to suggest ideas to improve how the organisation operates. Ideas submitted fall in to three triple aims: improving staff experience; improvising customer experience and best use of resources.
In its first year the Ideas Hub has so far had over 198,000 hits and over 200 ideas submitted (57 or which have now been delivered) and is the accessible to around 3,000 office staff of which there are 2100 active users.
Councillor Willie Young, Aberdeen City Council Convener of Finance, Policy and Resources said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a Best Business Award for Best Innovation. These awards aim to highlight and reward excellence across the private and public sectors and it is an honour to be recognised for the Ideas Hub.
“As an organisation we have a very clear vision for the Council and for the city of Aberdeen and recognise the level of service transformation that is required to achieve this vision.
“Due to the increasing restrictions on the public sector budgets we require to innovate at all levels in the organisation. As such the aims and guiding principles of our vision are focused on improving the customer experience, improving the staff experience and improving the use of our resources.
“As an organisation we are clear that the culture we require to achieve those triple aims is one of high performance, improvement and innovation. We encourage a bottom up approach to this transformation and the Ideas Hub has allowed council officers to be fully on board with this process.”
