Dozens of businesses from across the north of Scotland are attending a conference in Aberdeen today which will examine how the power of technology can be harnessed to drive growth.

Hosted by the Aberdeen & Grampian branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and delivered in partnership with transACT Technology Solutions, Amazon Web services (AWS), and LogicMonitor, the event will have a particular focus on the challenges facing the energy sector on its digital journey.

‘Navigating the Risks and Rewards of Digital Transformation’ takes place at Maryculter House in the city and topics of discussion will include managing risks and cybersecurity in the digital age, and using data to drive energy optimisation and decarbonisation.

Duncan Girvan, transACT’s UK Director of Operations for Scotland and North England, will be a keynote speaker on the day, and he said: “transACT are delighted to be presenting in Aberdeen with the IoD and we’re looking forward to providing thought leadership around data transformation with AWS and LogicMonitor.

“Digital transformation has been rapidly evolving the business landscape, changing how businesses operate and deliver against their goals to provide value to customers.

“As a business leader in 2023, staying ahead of the curve is vital in a digital age. Even though we’re living in the information age and the digital era, you can still survive using traditional techniques.

“I don’t think that’s going to be the case for very long with technology moving at such a pace. What happens to businesses in the north of Scotland is going to be driven by the technology that is available. Digital adoption is creating a faster speed to market and creating opportunities for progressive, forward-thinking companies.”

Companies expected to be in attendance include Wood plc, Stena Drilling, United Offshore and Global Energy Group.

Sarah Downs, chair of the IoD Aberdeen branch, said: “I am delighted to bring the expertise of the panel to the IoD Aberdeen & Grampian branch members. We are all looking forward to what promises to be a great event as we learn more about the risks and rewards of digital transformation.”

transACT is also supporting next month’s Digit North, the digital innovation summit at P&J Live.
