The business and assets of Aberdeen-based EV charging firm Trojan Energy have been sold via a pre-pack administration to rival firm Connected Kerb.
Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden from Interpath were appointed joint administrators to Trojan Energy Limited on Monday and immediately implemented the sale.
Like many technology and infrastructure scale-up businesses, Trojan required continued investment to support technology development and expansion. Although the company made progress in advancing its solutions and deploying charge points, it was unable to secure the level of new funding needed to meet long-term growth plans.
Following the transaction, all of Trojan Energy’s 63 employees will transfer to Connected Kerb.
Founded in 2016, Trojan Energy designs and builds EV charging solutions primarily aimed at residents who park on street, providing access to charging close to home.
The firm’s patented technology sits flat and flush to the pavement, helping to avoid street clutter. By 2026, Trojan had installed around 1,500 charge points, the majority of which are in London.
Connected Kerb said it will maintain the operation of Trojan’s existing charge points and integrate Trojan’s Flat & Flush Hub and Home products into its own technology portfolio.
The company described the move as strengthening its position as a leader in “accessible, smart, and future-proof charging infrastructure designed for all communities.”
Connected Kerb CEO Chris Pateman-Jones said: “This acquisition marks a pivotal moment in our mission to make reliable, accessible EV charging available to everyone, especially those without driveways.
"Trojan’s cutting-edge subsurface technology perfectly complements Connected Kerb’s long-life, smart charging infrastructure. Together, we’re building a future where clean transport is easy, equitable, and built for all communities."
Ian Mackenzie, CEO Trojan Energy, said: "This deal brings Trojan Energy’s pioneering Flat & Flush charge points inside one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing EV charging networks, Connected Kerb.
"The acquisition allows existing and new customers to benefit from a larger combined network, and accelerates the benefits of the energy transition for EV drivers, their communities and the planet."
